Created by students of Vancouver Film School, Compendium is a showcase of collaboration across industry sectors by the entertainment professionals of tomorrow. Three times a year students and alumni come together to learn and create on grand scale. The result is a suite of short genre films, inspired by classic literature and seasoned with the student’s own fantastical flavor.
Fans of “twisted takes on genre classics” will appreciate the Compendium volumes; each dedicated to the works of a different literary master. To date, the students have created films based on the work of H.P. Lovecraft, Homer’s Odyssey, J.M.Barrie’s Neverland, and classic Grimm Fairy tales.
Every new issue also includes bonus interactive and written content, as well as a behind the scene mini-documentary detailing the students’ journey throughout the creation process.
The free demo volume provides readers with a small taste of what to expect from Compendium. Full versions of the publication are available from the app store for 99 cents, with all proceeds supporting the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikimedia’s spirit of global collaboration dovetails elegantly with Compendium’s effort to encourage cooperation between industry sectors such as motion and graphic design, classical and 3D animation, filmmaking, visual effects, game design, sound design, makeup, acting, writing, producing and marketing.
A new volume of Compendium is released three times per year. Download the demo issue "H.P. Lovecraft" for free now!
